Best Way To Spend Mothers Day in JamaicaMothers Day in Jamaica is an extremely big deal here in Jamaica. In the run up to that special Sunday you will hear of special events, special discounts in stores, great mothers day deals at restaurants and spas, gift baskets being offered as prizes on the radio and TV and off course while on your travels around the island you will hear the music of Celine Dion’s “Mama You Gave Life to Me” and Sizzla’s “Thank you Mama” blaring across the airwaves.

Here in Jamaica Mother’s Day is celebrated in May just like in the USA so for all you UK returnee’s who celebrate in March you can hopefully get 2 sets of gifts. 🙂

Gifts For Mom on Mothers Day in Jamaica

If you haven’t arrived on the island as yet you can always order some beautiful flowers for your mom or grandmother or any loved one from Gorgeous Flowers. They provide a great service, deliver on time and have a wide selection of flower arrangements, gift baskets and gifts. I’ve used their wonderful service from the UK, they deliver islandwide and the receiver was overjoyed with the bouquet and they lasted for a very long time.

If you’re already on the island you can go to any of the local garden centres or plant nurseries, or your local gardener (that’s the person with the best garden in the district) and purchase a beautiful plant that they will dress up with ribbons and tulle. You’ll be extremely surprised by the number of creative people in your local parish and district.

A quick tip for you, just ask who at your local church does the flower displays and that will be the person who has a mini garden centre at their home and sell a variety of plants and flowers and do gift baskets.

Another place where Mother’s Day celebration takes place in Jamaica on a mega large scale is church and you know Jamaica has the most churches per square mile in the world. There are special Mother’s Day dinners held in church halls all over the island and it’s a big community event with all mothers dressed to impress ready for the banquet.

This is also the time where special Mother’s Day discount offers are available in advance through Brawta Living and Gustazos which are Caribbean equivalents to Groupon and Wowcher where you can get great deals for day spas, restaurants, weekend away hotel deals.

Some offers are up to 80% off and it’s a great opportunity to grab some excellent deals for yourself and your female family members and friends.

Mother and Daughters on Mothers Day

If you have a sweet tooth how about getting Mom the perfect dessert at Chocolate Dreams. Handmade chocolates, cakes and pastries that will just melt in the mouth in all its deliciousness.

Where To Take Mom for Mothers Day in Jamaica

How about checking out some of the great locations across the island holding special brunches and dinners this Mother’s Day. Here is a list of just a few.

Pegasus Hotel

You can’t loose if you choose the Pegasus. Always willing to go the extra mile with absolutely delicious food, a live cabaret, a local celebrity fashion show, make-up station. Make sure to book your reservation and treat Mom to an epic afternoon.

If you prefer not to do the brunch for your favorite lady how about treating her to a Mother’s Day Spa instead at the Pegasus, again just make a reservation.

Devon House Tour
Looking for a simple pleasure why not take Mom on the Devon House tour a fantastic heritage site and treat her to one of the best tasting ice creams in the world afterwards. You can also take a stroll around the gift shops or treat her to a meal at any of the surrounding restaurants on the grounds.

Boone Hall Oasis

A great and relaxing location where every Sunday a brunch is held in this lush tropical Stony Hill location but this coming Mother’s Day you know they will push the boat out with wonderful dishes and a great live band to make the occasion even that more special. Want to know what’s on the menu just pop over to their page.

Want something with a more local vibe how about chilling in Port Royal for some fish and festival. You can’t go wrong with Gloria’s. But one piece of advice get there early and make sure you’re not in a rush. A day like Mother’s Day the demand will be high and the staff will be run off their feet.

The Arches at the Mandeville Hotel

Enjoy a Mothers Day brunch at the Arches restaurant in the central town of Mandeville. With its poolside location, it’s sure to put a smile on Mom’s face.

Regie’s Fine Dining

Enjoy a tasty and relaxing Mothers Day dinner at Regie’s Fine Dining also in the cool hills of Mandeville.

Fish Cove

Now I can definitely vouch for the high quality of fish dishes at this restaurant located in St Thomas. Food great, local chilled vibe, nice location but be prepared for an adventure to get there. The roads were designed for ATVs it seems but it’s all part of the fun. By the way, do not in anyway be in a rush as service is strictly on a ‘soon come’ basis on big event days like Mother’s Day so get there real early.

Casa Lagoona

Why not take a break in the forgotten parish of St Thomas. A great little boutique hotel, easy to get to has all amenities with good food. The perfect short-stay getaway for families. Check out what’s going on there first as sometimes private events like weddings are held there.

Or how about joining Jamaican Mommies on their annual picnic in the park at Hope Gardens. You and the rest of the family are bound to have lots of fun.

What about listening to some great live reggae music in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth. Get a vibe at the Beaux Escape Lounge at the Reggae for Mothers event to see some of the best singers around.

If you want to go somewhere even further West then try out the Pushcart restaurant in Negril. Absolutely fantastic views and mellow vibes at Rock House Hotel. Make a reservation now!

So I’ve given you just a tiny taste of what is happening and what you can do here in Jamaica for Mothers Day. If you want to try out some other locations you might be interested in this earlier post on What to Do in Jamaica.

Why not find out what’s happening for Mother’s Day in your parish and share the venue, your day and your pictures. I would love to hear about how you enjoyed your day.
